Roots and Wings School
Where the essence of every child is honoured
Secondary School
Collaboration instead of competition,
is one of the main elements
to a healthy society.
When individual strengths and passions come together within a learning environment, innovative and brilliant ideas emerge.
At Roots and Wings Secondary we provide that environment where all those ideas can come alive.
Our Students and teachers are co-designers of each learning experience.
When individual strengths, needs and interests are identified, understood and taken into account, then true collaboration can begin. In this collaborative environment, the students' visions and concepts take shape as they construct their own projects.
They co-construct knowledge through these many projects. This process allows our students to continually deepen their understanding of our world and their place within it. As their awareness grows, they realize that they are all responsible for creating the world as they know it, through their choices, acts and beliefs. Thus they also have the opportunity and power to change it, and that each individual contribution is crucial for creating a world that they want to live in. This empowering concepts leads our students to become self-aware, responsible, involved, motivated, innovative, passionate and successful members of society.
Our educational approach is inspired by:
- The project based-learning approach of High Tech High in San Diego California
- S.O.L.E (self-organised learning environment) developed by Sugata Mitra
- The Reggio Emilia approach
We offer:
- Full coverage of the British Curriculum preparing our students for IGCSEs and A-Levels
- In-depth understanding and real life applications of the core subjects (Language Arts, Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities, Creative Arts and Physical education)
- Co-creation of an individualized academic journey for each student in view of post-secondary education
It all begins as an inner journey, where the mind and the heart of each child learn how to collaborate. When a deepening of self-awareness and inner harmony are reached, then, group collaboration can take place.
We lead each child to develop a state of being that embodies:
- Collaboration
- Inclusiveness
- Innovation
- Creativity
- Resourcefulness
- Resilience
- Motivation
- Determination
- Empathy
- Compassion
- Curiosity
- Critical thinking
- Inquisitiveness
- Sense of wonder
- Growth mindset
- Joy
Students are seen and honoured for who they truly are and what brings joy to their hearts.
This acknowledgment motivates them to reach their full potential and lead meaningful and successful lives.
